Celebrating The Elderly Community

Celebrating The Elderly Community

As part of Jesus House’ drive to provide support and care in the community, Abigail’s Court, the ministry that cares for the senior citizens organised the annual ‘Celebration of Life’ event on Saturday, 7th May. Over four hundred senior citizens from various cultural backgrounds and more than fifty care homes across Brent and Barnet attended. Each guest was welcomed with a single white rose and treated to a three course meal to celebrate their lives and their achievements. Each guest was given gifts and bags bearing the ‘Union Jack’.

The special guest of honour was His Worshipful Councillor H Singh Mayor of Brent who was delighted to attend the celebration. Pastor Vera, Head of Church Plants prayed and championed good health and long life for all.

The group was treated to a musical sing-along with the Tribe of Judah choir which included songs like ‘It's a long, long way to Tipperary’ and traditional African dances by Abigail’s Court and the dance ministry. As the day went on their physical and emotional well-being was lifted. This was an enjoyable day for all who attended and will hopefully have a lasting impact on the lives of the senior citizens in our community.
